LUNCH @ Piccolino

Saturday we headed to Piccolino in Brindleyplace for the critics' first meal.

Here they are -

Piccolino specializes in Italian, as the name suggests. The jury had a special set menu to choose from for the meal, which not every critic was happy about (namely this guy right here).

About 25 people came and dined with us. The seating booths were perfect for conversations. Here are some pics of the groups that formed for the afternoon -

At last... food arrived!

Wait, is that pizza or garlic bread - the starter? Turns out it was garlic bread and tomato, though it took awhile (and some taste testing) for us all to figure that out. The taste consensus was mostly positive - I heard a couple 7, 7.5's out of 10.

The brave ones tried CALAMARI for their starter - and enjoyed it from what I heard.

OK, here's the real pizza -

One anonymous critic tested the fun-potential of the Calzone crust (who said his parents would 'kill him if he did it at home').

Ta daaaaa. It seems Calzone crust makes for good hair

and facial hair

Full of pizza.

The team was invited to watch the 'pizza maker' make pizza in the wood oven. Many cell phones captured the moment.

For dessert, massive glasses of ice cream were presented to the jury. Most of them were devoured regardless of their size.

And outside, we had a run around, which maybe helped wear off a few of the calories. See you tomorrow at Bodega for a complete food switch - Mexican!
