DINNER @ Simpsons

Monday night we had an "Eat the Street" first - a Michelin starred restaurant. For those of you who don't know what that is, it means the food, the atmosphere, the service, are all supposed to be SPECTACULAR. Here's the gang in front of the swanky place, Simpsons, in Birmingham.

We met "the boss" after ringing the bell (several times of course) to announce our presence.

He sat us in the sitting room (we were a bit early), where we read the last person's bill and counted the tip.

We had some fancy drinks too.

Ahmed in his cozy chair by the fire looks right at home

We got a tour of the place - here we are in the Don Perignon room

He demonstrated how guests' napkins are placed on their laps by the servers

and... we got a tour of the kitchen to meet the chefs!

Seated, and time to take some notes.

A blurry shot of the menu - but check out the options: Quail! Lobster! Salmon! and Rabbit! And those are just the starters!!

Some of the tables - once again, we had a nice turn-out!

And now, to eat. The pre-starter, the amuse-bouche - a coconut/curry soup

fancy breads

And... the first starter: LOBSTER

The critic taking some notes while getting some help cutting it up

He tried the quail... but wasn't super impressed

The pear was good at least.

Getting caught sneaking a pic of the kitchen!

And now, some mains - here's the Cod

The Sea Bass

The Beef

Ahmed wasn't crazy about the Cod but ate his broccoli

and Mohammed helped clean up the Cod - no problem

Then... the dessert to end all desserts??

Souffle first

Followed with dozens more treats (including house-made macarons!)

sharesies

This picture does not at all do it justice - but here's the fantastic-looking Chocolate dessert

and the Plum with ricotta doughnuts

Dang seemed to enjoy his chocolate

Then - evaluation time

Will swanky Simpsons win Best of the Best? Find out on Saturday at the Awards Ceremony, Mocking Bird Theatre, 5pm!
